The wedding venue sets the tone for the whole day. Some couples dream of a manor house or castle with history in its walls, others of a barn with rustic charm, a restaurant with a view or a garden for an outdoor ceremony. Think about the atmosphere you want — intimate and cosy, or large and festive — and how many guests you expect before choosing a place.
What to remember when choosing
- Capacity: there must be room for dinner, speeches and a dance floor — count on plenty of elbow room, not just the minimum.
- Food and drink: does the venue have its own kitchen, or will you arrange catering? Ask about the menu, drinks packages and cake table.
- Ceremony on site: many venues offer both civil ceremonies and space for an outdoor ceremony.
- Accommodation: rooms for guests (and yourselves) make the celebration easier and longer.
- A weather plan B: for outdoor ceremonies, a covered alternative is worth its weight in gold.

The price varies a lot with location, season and how much is included. Renting the room alone can range from a few thousand to 25,000+ DKK, while a full package is usually priced per cover (per guest). Summer Saturdays are the most expensive and are often booked 6–12 months ahead.

Is catering included?

Can we hold the ceremony on site?
Many venues can host both a civil ceremony and an outdoor ceremony. Ask the venue about options and space for the ceremony.
